The Distance…

One of the things that truly stood out to me throughout this series (so far) has been the quotation:

“The distance between you and I disappears we we love eachother.”

I think there is so much truth in living that out.  For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to live that out by looking at where there are opportunities to truly “love” someone.

What ways are you living this out this week?  What opportunities have you had?

What do you think?

How can you truly love someone?

How do you do it? For me… its a matter of taking the time to honestly, and sincerely journey with someone. I think about the depth of love, and the depth of friendship that I have, and can honestly say that it is love for me.

True love can only come from one source… God. The way that God has blessed me to love those around me (even strangers) is to see them the way God would see them in that very moment. It’s my daily prayer to have that perspective. Through his eyes you see people’s hearts, life burdens and soul potential. And my compassion, understanding and love for humanity grows in that way.

That quote immediately resonated with me when I heard it at church. Very powerful, unifying words. A few days before this blog post God really gave me an opportunity to put it into practice with someone. I kept feeling an internal tug of war. Nah, it will be too hard, you don’t need to do this… Wait, maybe that’s exactly why I do… Eventually I decided to stop intellectualizing, took a deep breath, and just did my best to make someone feel loved. It was an awesome experience.

Awesome to hear Lauren. I think I spend a lot of time “intellectualizing” rather than doing as well.
